The True Simplicity of Meditation
Meditation has been practiced traditionally as a tool, many times the main tool, in the process of self-realization.  In the west, it’s quite popular during the last few decades to view meditation as a powerful relaxation technique that is recommended by many doctors as an adjunct to various medical therapies.

In this class we will explore meditation from the traditional perspective, as a tool that helps us discover who and what we really are, and then develop that.  In order to meditate correctly, we need to understand clearly three things. The first is the purpose of meditation.  Once that becomes clear, we can then explore the technique and see how the technique flows naturally and rationally out of the understanding of the purpose of meditation.  Thirdly, we need to understand resistance to meditation and learn how to deal with it effectively.  We will have time to explore the first two in some detail, and touch upon the third aspect, resistance, which is the subject of a separate class.
Meditation is usually taught within a specific context of one tradition or another.  In this class the context is the Western Spiritual Tradition and specifically the Diamond Approach to Inner Work. This differs from many Eastern approaches to meditation in that the emphasis here is not on transcendence, but rather on embodiment. We want to bring our realization into action in our daily lives. We want to embody, live and function as who we really are.

The class is taught by Ridhwan Teacher Andreas Mouskos.  Andreas has been teaching meditation practices since 1979.  His way of teaching is clear and rational. No secretive myth building in this class.

The tuition is $60 for the complete three session series.  Class held in Wheat Ridge, near I-70 and Wadsworth. For questions and to register please call Andreas Mouskos at 303-463-4502 or email him at AMouskos@msn.com.

2008 Schedule:  Monday evenings from 7 to 9 PM
Series I:   Feb. 4, 11 and 18
Series II:  April 7, 14 and 21
Series III:  May 19, 26 and June 2

Dealing with Resistance to Meditation
Those who have practiced meditation for any length of time know that resistance is almost inevitable.  We all encounter resistance to meditating at one time or another. As a matter of fact, this is the reason why a significant percentage of meditators quit meditating sooner or later.
In this class we will explore resistance in a systematic way. We will look at ways resistance manifests externally and ways it manifests internally.  Then we will explore the reasons behind resistance.  Here we will see the forms of resistance that are psychodynamic in nature and those that come up as a result of the relationship between the personality and true nature.
This class is very experiential and practical. Each student will have opportunity to discover their personal ways of resisting meditating, through structured exercises and explorations in class and at home.  Then, of course, practical ways to deal with the resistance will be explored and applied.
The class is taught by Ridhwan Teacher Andreas Mouskos.  Andreas has been teaching meditation practices since 1979.  His way of teaching is clear and rational. No secretive myth building in this class.

The tuition is $100 for the complete four session series. Class held in Wheat Ridge, near I-70 and Wadsworth. For questions and to register please call Andreas Mouskos at 303-463-4502 or email him at AMouskos@msn.com

INQUIRY FOR LIFE CLASS--REDOUX
“Real inquiry coincides with a passionate involvement with one's process, with one's realization, with one's life. All of our life then feeds into it and is an expression of it.”  from Spacecuiser Inquiry By A.H. Almaas

Come join this exciting new inquiry class. If you are interested in deepening your process of self-exploration through inquiry, or learning the basics of inquiry, this class is for you.

We will learn and explore the basic practices of the Diamond Approach® so that your work can be further enlivened and deepened. We will use open-ended inquiry to challenge the barriers that obscure who you really are.  The class will meet in a small group format for four meetings. In the small group format, students have the opportunity to explore their spiritual issues with the teacher individually, while in the presence of the other group members.  This use of inquiry as a dynamic process in the group setting will allow for a further expansion and enrichment of your spiritual exploration. The small group format is also useful to compliment and deepen your private work.
Ilene Buchalter will be teaching this class. As an ordained Diamond Approach teacher/minister, and has worked with individuals and groups in the Denver-Boulder area. She has been a student in the Ridhwan School for 25 years.

For more information, dates the next class will be held and to register please call Ilene at (720) 206-7189 or email buchalteri@msn.com

PRESENCE AND NATURE - SATURDAY STROLLS
“We live in a world of mystery, wonder and beauty.” from Diamond Heart, Book One by A.H. Almaas

We as humans are blessed with the capacity to perceive with our senses: sight, sound, taste, feel, and smell. When we are present walking in a natural setting, the whole realm of our sensory experience can open and deepen. The glint of the sun reflecting off a stream becomes a magical mirror. The smell of the flowers becomes a bouquet of fragrant love. The rustling of trees is transformed into nature’s symphony.

The act of walking outdoors can be elevated to a deeper, more essential experience by simply being present as we walk and being open to the sensory beauty that surrounds us. The class will include meditation, experiential exercises, and actual outdoor walking.
